Before and Aftercare

Following before and aftercare is critical for best healed results. Before and aftercare instructions are to set you up for success through your healing process.  When booking a permanent makeup appointment you are agreeing to the following instructions below.

Pre-Care instructions ​

The Prep:

​​

  • Do not tan two weeks prior or have sunburned face/skin

  • Do not use Retinol/ Retinol 3 weeks before and after

  • No Botox 3 weeks before

  • Do not have chemical peels or skin lasering, micro needling- 3 weeks prior to treatment

  • Do not work out the day of the procedure.

  • Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior (natural blood thinners)

  • Do not tint your eyebrows 3 days before the procedure.

  • In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor color deposit:

  • Do not drink alcohol 24 - 48 hours before your tattoo

  • Do not consume coffee or any caffeine 24 hours before your procedure

  • Do not take an aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood) for at least 3 days

Brow aftercare instructions

Days 1-7: Wash

Starting 2-3 hours after procedure gently wash with provided aftercare and apply ointmentto the treated area each morning and night. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the affected area. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA, Retinol), or any exfoliants.  

IMPORTANT

It is normal to be excited about your new brows; however do not touch, pick, peel, tamper, scratch, rub, injure or remove the peeling in any way, you will damage the color and affect the retention. Let the skin naturally go through the healing and recovery process.  

It is normal because of the skins natural healing and regeneration process for clients to experience color loss or what appears to be color loss, causing the brows to look uneven or even disappear all together in some areas. This is the reason we require a minimum of two treatments, your follow up appointment, so we can ensure the best possible results, make any minor changes and pigment the area slowly for the most natural results.

 

Reminders

  • Use a fresh pillowcase

  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color

  • No facials, Botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 3 weeks

  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.

  • No exercise of any kind, no long hot showers for the first 10 days.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days

  • Avoid swimming, lakes, hot tubs for the first 10 days

  • Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area

  • DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area

  • Avoid injectables 3 weeks after

  • After 30 days SPF 40 or more to help prolong color 

Eyeliner

1. Do not wear contact lenses during or within 24 hours following the eyeliner procedure.
2. Bring sunglasses to wear. Eyes may be light sensitive.
3. Do not dye, perm, chemically lift or curl lashes for 5 days prior to your appointment.
4. Please remove your eyelashes extensions five days (30 days) before your eyeliner appointment. This includes temporary lash enhancement strips.
5. Discontinue use of any eyelash growing serums like Latisse 2 months prior to the procedure.
6. If you have had any type of eye surgery, you must get approval from your physician.

Please note: If skin is overly dry, cracked, peeling, or has scabs on the day of your appointment. Sculpted Studios reserves the right to cancel your appointment. Procedures cannot be performed if the skin is injured in any way.

PAIN PREPARATION:
Though the sensation of micro-pigmentation is minimal, all clients will respond to pain differently. To alleviate possible discomfort, a topical anesthetic will be applied during the procedure. Please do not take any blood thinners such as Ibuprofen and Aspirin 24 hours before. Tylenol can be taken 30 minutes before your treatment without any contraindications.
Please note that you will be more sensitive 5 days before, during, and 5 days after your menstrual cycle.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• The skin should not be dry, chapped, or irritated on the day of the appointment.
• You may swell; please make sure you don’t have anything important for the next 1-2 days after your visit (depends on the person).
• Do not exercise the day of the procedure.
• Do not tan or come with a sunburned face.
• Do not consume caffeinated products 24 hours before the procedure.
• Do not consume alcohol 5 days before your procedure and 3 days after.
• Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, or Ibuprofen 72 hours before the procedure.
• Avoid Chemical Peels, Botox, Laser treatment 2 months before your appointment.
• You must wait at least 2 months after any cataract, LASIK, or blepharoplasty surgeries.

Liner After Care Instructions

 

CLEANSING THE FIRST TWO DAYS

For the first evening and following morning of your procedure, wipe the treated are with the provided antiseptic wipes. On the second day, the treated areas should be wiped down two times a day: Morning and evening – again only using the provided wipes. 

A very thin layer of A&D ointment should be applied consistently throughout the day to the treatment area using a fresh Q-tip (do not use mineral oil or petroleum- based products such as Vaseline.) Applying too much ointment can lead to fading, so a thin layer goes a long way. This will keep the area moist and accelerate the healing. Do not let the area dry out and crack, keep it moist at all times. Do not press or rub when applying ointment. 

IMPORTANT

Swelling is normal after the procedure, this should not last over 12-24 hours after.

It is normal to be excited about your new liner; however do not touch, pick, peel, tamper, scratch, rub, injure or remove the peeling in any way, you will damage the color and affect the retention. Let the skin naturally go through the healing and recovery process.  

 

FIRST 5 DAYS

  • Do not touch, peel, tamper, rub, injure or remove the peeling in any way, if you do, you will experience a loss of color.

  • Do not let any sweat, water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch the treated area.

  • Abstain from any physical activity that causes extreme sweating.

  • No foreign body fluids.

  • Do not use any mascaras or cosmetics on or near the treated area

     

DURING THE NEXT 14+ DAYS

NO hot sauna, swimming pool, ocean, hot bath/shower, sun tanning, tanning salons, vaseline, Neosporin, or any other petroleum based products.

Do not use an eyelash curler for 3 weeks

DO NOT expose the area to unsanitary or dirty conditions.  

 

30 DAYS

Do not use products containing alcohol or products that contain glycolic, lactose, or fruit acids and avoid salt or saline on the treatment area.

Avoid any prolonged sun exposure.

Lip Blush

 

 

Lip/Skin Pre Treatment Preparation: To perform cosmetic tattoo procedures on the lips, the skin of your lips must be hydrated and moisturized on the day of your appointment. As such it is MANDATORY all clients to begin a daily lip prep regiment 5 days before you are scheduled to come in ensure the lips are properly prepared. Please come to your appointment with a makeup free face (no foundation, blush, mascara, etc) regardless of the treatment area.

Week before your appointment:

  • Avoid: Alcohol, excessive caffeine, Lip Sticks, and extreme sun exposure.

  • Drink a minimum of 8 (8oz) glasses of water daily.

  • Vitamin E or A&D should be applied throughout the day.

  • After showering or washing your face in the evening, when lips are soft and supple, gently scrub your lips using a lip scrub, especially the middle, and apply a layer of Vitamin D or A&D. 

  • Please do not take any blood thinners such as Ibuprofen and Aspirin 24 hours before. Tylenol can be taken 30 minutes before your treatment without any contraindications.

  • Stop any retinol products in the area of treatment

DIY LIP SCRUB:
Mix 1 tablespoon of each, apply in a circular motion on lips for 5-10 min to get rid of any chapping. Repeat daily for 5-7 days before your lip blush or neutralization appointment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • You may swell; please make sure you don’t have anything important for the next 1-2 days after your visit (depends on the person).

  • Do not consume caffeinated products 24 hours before the procedure.

  • Do not consume alcohol 5 days before your procedure and 3 days after.

  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, or Ibuprofen 72 hours before the procedure.

  • Avoid Chemical Peels & Laser treatment 2 months before your appointment.

  • Lip Blush should not be performed until 6 weeks before/after having any fillers/injections.

  • For clients with an ANY history of cold sores/fever blisters/herpes, please contact your physician and request a prescription for Acyclovir or Valtrex. Take it the day before, on the day of, and the day after your appointment. If you experience frequent outbreaks, please note that Lip Blush can only be done after 4 weeks from your most recent outbreak. The prescription doest not guarantee you will not have an outbreak however it will greatly reduce the chances on occurs. All other questions or concerns should be discussed with a healthcare physician.

 

 

Lip Blush / Neutralization After Care

Cleansing the First two Days: 

For the first evening and morning following your treatment, blot the treated area with provided antiseptic wipes. On the second day, blot or gently wipe the treated area two times, morning and evening, again ONLY with with antiseptic wipes provided.

During those first 48 hours the treated area can ONLY be cleansed with the antiseptic wipes provided to you. No water or other cleansers of any kind can be used for any reason.

 

Apply very thin layer of provided moisturizer / A&D ointment should be applied consistently throughout the day to the treatment area using a fresh Q-tip (do NOT use mineral oil, chapstick brand, or any petroleum products such as Vaseline.) Applying too much ointment can lead to fading, so a thin layer goes a long way. This will keep the area moist and accelerate the healing process. Do not let the area dry out and crack, keep it moist at all time. Do not press or rub aggressively when applying ointment. 

Swelling is normal after the procedure. After you leave, we recommend that ice packs be applied for 10-15 minuets each hour for the first 48 hours following the procedure.

IMPORTANT

It is normal to be excited about your new lips; however do not touch, pick, peel, tamper, scratch, rub, injure or remove the peeling in any way, you will damage the color and affect the retention. Let the skin naturally go through the healing and recovery process by applying only the moisturizer provided. 

DURING THE NEXT 5 DAYS

  • Your lips will feel dry, grainy, and may even have slight peeling

  • Do not touch, bite, lick, peel, tamper, rub, injure or remove the peeling in any way, if you do, you will experience a loss of color.

  • Do not let any sweat, water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch the treated area.

  • Abstain from any physical activity that causes extreme sweating.

  • Use a straw when drinking liquids; avoid biting into foods that might cause friction to the lips. No spicy food & drink colored, hot, or cold things through a straw,

  • No foreign body fluids.

  • Do not use any lipsticks or cosmetic on or near the treated area


DURING THE NEXT 14+ DAYS

  • NO hot sauna, swimming pool, ocean, hot bath/shower, sun tanning, tanning salons, vaseline, Neosporin, or any other petroleum based products.

  • NO massages, facials, waxing, threading, laser or skin treatments.

  • DO NOT expose the area to unsanitary or dirty conditions.

  • If you are a Dark Lip Neutralization client; even though lips are healed in 7-10 days the treatment process may cause a temporary period of enhanced darkness. It can take up to 3 months for the color to settle (depends on the person).

30 DAYS

  • Do not use products containing alcohol or products that contain glycolic, lactose, or fruit acids and avoid salt or saline on the treatment area.

  • Avoid any injectables for 30 days.

  • Avoid any prolonged sun exposure.
